The South Harrison Community School Corporation Board of Trustees recently convened for its October meeting, featuring student and staff presentations, reviewing operational matters, approving several fundraisers and field trips, and discussing upcoming events.

Corydon Elementary Student and Staff Presentation
Students from Corydon Elementary attended the meeting to share the details of their recent involvement with the Look Out for the Left Out program. Created in honor of Calla Woods by her parents, Ben and Crystal Woods, the program involves teaching students about the importance of kindness and making slime for Calla’s Slime Shop, where all proceeds go to children in Romania.
During their presentation, students shared how Calla’s story inspired them and what they learned from participating in the service project. Many highlighted the importance of kindness and being a friend to everyone. They also shared the fun they had making slime to give back to those in need.
Additionally, Corydon Elementary Principal Scott Ferriell shared updates on recent and upcoming events with the Board. He also recognized Ms. Enlow and Ms. Dupaquier for their involvement with the service project and organizing student presentations.
South Central Jr.- Sr. High School Student Council Presentation
The South Central Jr.-Sr. High School Student Council provided the Board with an update on recent events, including Senior Sunrise, Tough Man Tournament, and College Application Day. They also shared plans for their upcoming Senior Carnival on November 1st which will raise funds for their senior trip later this year.
Agenda Highlights
Additional staff presentations included plans for the integration of artificial intelligence and details about next summer’s summer school program. Allison Schalk, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for Secondary Education, presented both items to the Board highlighting ethical and efficient approaches to integrating AI, as well as outlining student qualifications for summer school.
Board members also approved the 2026 Budget Adoption and voted on other operational matters.
Overall, the meeting showcased the great things happening across the district. Students and staff shared exciting projects and upcoming events, while the Board discussed plans to keep improving learning opportunities and operations. The meeting reflected the ongoing effort to support students, encourage kindness, and keep the district moving forward together.
